Sammy Gilbreath

State Missionary Sammy Gilbreath is the director of the Office of Evangelism for the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions. He came to this position Aug. 19, 1996.

Sammy will plan, promote and implement the total program of evangelism for Alabama Baptist churches and associations.

Sammy and his wife, Carol, are members of First Baptist Church, Montgomery. They have a son and a daughter.

Education: Lee High School, Huntsville; associate in arts, Clarke Memorial College, Newton, Mississippi; bachelor of arts, Alabama A&M University; master of divinity, Southern Seminary; doctor of ministry, Drew University, Madison, New Jersey.

Phillip Day has been the bi-vocational Minister of Students at Calvary since June 2010.  Phillip is from the town of Pisgah originally. He accepted Christ as his Savior at the age of 6 and surrendered to the call to preach at age 16.  He pastored Providence Baptist Church in Hollywood, Alabama from 2002 to 2010, and he has served in various capacities within the Tennessee River Baptist Association since his beginning pastorate. He has a BSE in Civil Engineering from the University of Alabama in Huntsville and is currently employed full-time by the Alabama Department of Transportation as a Professional Civil Engineer. Phillip and his wife, Carrie, have two children, Jack and Ruby Kate.

Hobbies: Outdoor sports of most any kind, guitar and drums, small construction projects, and playing with his son, Jack.
