Dr. D. Allen Hays

Dear Church Family,

Tomorrow is an exciting day for our church. We will vote to call Shane Smith as the new minister of music at Calvary. I have enjoyed working with your music search team over the past year as we have sought God’s will in search of His man for this position. It has been a rewarding and challenging experience. We are all thankful that the Holy Spirit has finally directed us to Shane and his family.

This is a new beginning in our church. Any time we begin something new, it’s a little scary. I know and understand your concerns with this new direction. At the same time, I believe with all my heart that this is exactly the direction in which God is leading us. If we are going to move into the future and reach the community around us, this is the direction we have to take. I believe our church is at a crossroads. This is not a crossroads created by myself, the committee, or anyone else. As the search committee and I met last night, we all marveled at how God has orchestrated these events. We all believe He has presented us with a decision: We can choose to move forward and thrive, or we can choose to stay in the past and die. I believe God wants to bless this church in ways we could never imagine. However, in order to experience these blessings, we must trust Him and step out in faith tomorrow morning.

I encourage you all to spend tonight and tomorrow morning in prayer, seeking God’s direction. In addition, beginning at 8:45 in the morning, members of the search committee will be in the welcome center and in front of the elevators in the senior building to answer any questions you may have regarding Shane or the search process. I believe tomorrow is going to be a wonderful day of worship and revival. I can’t wait to see you then!

Sincerely,

Pastor Allen
